If you have concerns about your weight (‘over’ or ‘under’) perhaps there’s a better way to think. Research shows that diets don’t work and weight is not a good indicator of health. There’s so much misinformation in this area it’s hard to know what to believe. An alternative approach is to focus on what’s really important to you in life, and learn to apply some simple psychological principles called ‘mindful’ or ‘intuitive’ eating along with a little common sense. Dr Mark McGrath is a GP with an interest in this area.
