Medical Guess What #1

I thought for 2017 I might try a fun educational game;  I’ll post images of various medical items, allow some time for people to try to guess what it is, then post the answer with an explanation.

Next time I might have to make it a little more difficult or ask the other medical professionals out there to throw in a few trick answers!

This is a mini-portable Xray machine, also known as a mini C-arm. It’s used in operating theatres, most often in orthopaedic surgery to check the position and length of screws, alignment of plates and fractures during surgery. It’s small and portable and gives a great resolution picture with minimal Xray exposure (so safer for staff and patients). It can be operated by the surgeon, rather than the radiographer which reduces delay and operating time. It’s suitable for hands, elbows and feet.
